Cool, this is a movie of an Argentine director. Of course, with the American taste. A pretty succeed in the genre. Honestly, I’ve been terrified since the beginning. But near the end, when I saw Mama’s appearance clearer, I got more relax. No kidding. From the beginning to three-fourth of plot, I felt watching a horror movie. And the rest is more like plain drama to me.
The film also has its weaknesses like pretty much horror movies: its protagonists always seem to make stupid decisions. For instance, why the doctor who just figured out who is the Mama and what she is capable of, still go back to the spooky cabin? I even don’t understand, why Annabel and Lucas never turned on the light in their new house. You know, almost the entire film is in the dark.
Mama is a good movie. A horror that I refused to watch in the night alone because it’s scary. I love the idea too: a spirit nurtures two sisters of human being, since their parents died. However, I’ve got too many questions in my head. So… Score: 2 stars of 5.
